Timez Attack

Well, we've finally finished the beta for Timez Attack (Lite).

At www.bigbrainz.com you can download the game or just watch the video. Many thanks to everyone on these boards. You've given us deep and constant support--we never would have gotten to this point without you.

Note:
1. The site is password protected until we finish the beta phase:
username: beta
password: timezattack

2. Keep in mind that the game is for 7-year olds and their tech-phobic parents .

Other than that, I'll try and let the site and the game explain themselves, since that's how customers will have to learn about it. (I'm curious to know what holes there are in it.)

Thank you!

Looks really good! I only watched the movie because i cant play this in school (intergrated graphics card). But from that video it looks like a game worthy of being sold. Best of luck, dude.

Edit: Personally i believe childrens games are surefire to succeed

Played the demo and I have to say very nice job. The camera seemed a bit jerky on my system. Are you using the template script for that? Other than that very nice.

Thanks a ton for the great feedback!

Are you SURE it won't work? That's a bummer because the vast majority of parents are going to have an integrated graphics card, so I really hope it plays ok on them generally. I've tested it on 2 old PCs with integrated cards and it worked OK, but maybe they were 'special' somehow.

We did have Normal Mapping on the walls, but had to back down when the latest engine made DX9 mandatory--what you're seeing there is just a texture with a lot of bump baked into it. I suppose stepping away from shaders is just as well for now because going back to 6.22 actually solved all our remaining little bugs. Well . . . most of the bugs. The main character does still get stuck a lot when going up stairs and ramps--and often he can stick to a wall and walk like Spiderman (an unintended "feature" ).

It is a 31MB download--and will only get bigger. It will be interesting to see how many folks that scares away.

I have to agree. I'm using the template camera (with some teensy variation). If anybody can help me get one that's totally smooth I would LOVE LOVE LOVE it.

well, don't change a thing... i just sampled the gameplay, and it looks great, runs smooth, an looks like a polished, professional application...

great job on the walls by the way... i also have jumped back to 6.22 for the dx8.1 shader interface (see the shaders forum)...

again... this is really well done... a perfect example of using a low cost 3d development tool to make a AAA game.

thanks for the preview.

Very nicely done!
This is such a great way to teach small children their math, it'd be a way I would remember it. Very clever and nice graphics.

You guys are great! Thank you. Somebody found one bug that basically stopped you after the first level, but we've fixed that and posted the new version. (Man, there's just WAY too many variables to reset in this thing )
