skySystem2 - final thread:)

hope you dont take it as spam too much, since it is a little spam:)

anyways, skySystem2 is available under http://shop.earthcontrol.de/ for only 10€
since i didnt get any problems reported from the customers so far i guess there wasnt any so far;)

the different clouds use shaders from version 1.1 to version 2.0 so there should be one for everyone. no ffp-version , no fallbacks since you shouldnt initiate the skySystem2 if there is no shadersupport - check "d3d_shaderversion" in the manual for doing this

some screens (the parameters are included in the sky_settings.wdl) :

at this point i have to say wait further purchasing because i am doing some great additions right now!

i have found such an easy way to add day/night - transitions which i just implemented. furthermore i will create an exporter which will create ready to use functions. bupaje, i thought about exactly that just 15minutes ago:)

i'll take the buy link off, just to avoid to much update-emails:)

relaunch will be soon

i'll also try to create a video to maybe push decisions for gpu investments;)

Well I am excited about this. Perhaps TripleX, Oliver and you Ello should create a combined editor - the TOE Editor. Levels, skies and terrains -whew plus many others in the shaders and material editors -exciting stuff.

Ello, Right now my sky is a geo sphere mdl that rotates slowly with a cloud
texture on it. Can I use this on the inside of the mesh sphere without
curvature distortion? Or does it require a skybox with no visible sides? I
noticed that it looked like the demo used a box and it had some distiortions at
the sides.

Not two, not one.

By the way maybe you can create a 'lite' version of this technique to create moving ground fog? Then it would be the 'sky and fog system.'

no, only paypal.

Josiah , i dont get your question.. the skySystem is using its own skydome and skycube, you cant just mix those up

hello, everybody:)
i am happy to announce that from now on the doors at my shop are open: http://shop.earthcontrol.de/

thanx to william for betatesting and finding some bugs, which have now been sorted out.
the site has been reworked aswell, a demo and a video are available.
shareIt is supported, too, a little more expensive because of different conditions (but, well still effordable at 15€)

enjoy:)

Hi Ello,

It looks great and I had a few questions about the product.

About the framerate:
How is the framerate affected? What is the frame rate of a level with the sky visible and then not visible on say a 30,000 x 30,000 quant level?

About the file size:
Also, how big are thy sky map files? This is important for us developers that wish to make shareware demo's for our products.

Also, is there any way to determine if the sky does not work on a users computer video card? Because if it does not work then we can disable the sky and use a standard colored sky.

Thanks for the great work.

the framerate keeps nearly the same but it depends on which effect you choose. say the 1.1 versions aren't noticable at all (at least on my system) and the 2.0 versions can cost 5-10fps...

the skycubes are 256x1536 which should be supported by all required cards, and hopefully there will be some highresolution skycubes soon:)

use d3d_shaderversion to check which shaders are supported, then start or don't start skySystem2.
this is up to you, the developer, since you have more freedom for such decisions.

thanks for your interest

On some tests I did with the Pentium 3(1ghz) + Geforce5200FX, the framerate handled very well! In the user gallery section, the first images clouds are made with the 1.1 version that runs very fast(the other 3 used 1.4 version).
