DEXON Knight

Its time to show new images from DEXON Knight game. Prepare for long post
Big news is that George from Acknex magazine become main game programmer, so we have a really great team now. New memeber is Level design contest winner Lennart Hillen.
FrankG and myself like porject leaders...
Then we have Miguel and Nadester with their levels too, and fantastic music made by Samuel Anjam. We are only sorry that David AxysPhenomenon had to leave project because of his demanding game.
Of course all characters are made by ANDVARI.

whooo hooo... I like it.
aspecially the cartoon style in some place, I mean the indoor level has the stronger cartoon style than the outdoor,
and at some place in indoor level has too realistic style (not cartoon at all).
example: the first picture has very cartoon style but the last five pictures is look a bit realistic style.
it's a little inconsistence level design
but overall, I love it (cant't wait to play the demo)

Lol, sorry ANDVARI I forgot to mention that you are the part of our team with your great character models. I already edited first post

Yes, Kotakide, we will mix styles in this game, for example where we will have a heavy enemy fight we will use more realistic textures, and where player gets into "Dreamland" there we will use cartoon only textures. So each world will have own style.
BUt after all we will decide to unify style or not. For example here is same level with cartoon textures:

In fact you can do like you want , and
breaking the rules is good.

that's borring to see all time same style games and conventions
Nintendo don't hesitate to break conventions (good or bad sometimes) like with original title on DS or Zelda in cell shading or Killer 7 that's was a good experience with lot of atmosphear.

Keep it up

only one comment: the sunbeams should be parallel to eachother, in those pics they cross...
apart from that i'd love to play a demo of it

uuggghhh, more anime....

The textures and models look great, most of the environments look well put together (the screens that are inside WMB block environments). Id like to see some of the enemies, as that red dragon looks pretty well made. Though the shadows need some heavy work, as most of the screens show some blatent shadow jaggies, though Im sure these are WIPS and you probobly toned down the resolution for test renders.

I am a little against the whole Windwaker style of cartoony pastel colors, (which is pretty obvious), as the style of this game reminds me of the Zelda game, not your OWN style. Its the same when games use bullet time, as everytime they use it, they refer to the Matrix, not their own style. Though this is a personal preference, the Windwaker style is not just cel-shading or a simple cartoon shader, but a mix of pastel colors, cartoonish environments. That texture of the green swirl is a bit overused in your screens.

Once again, this is personal preference, and I doubt you will change the whole style of the game (even though it is borrowed), for a forum user. This shouldnt take the fact away that I like how everything fits in the style.

You're not as unique as you think you are, try again.

Hm, I never played Windwaker, this is just style I like, and most of small kids like. But now I will definitlíy look into those games to see the style and how they managed colors.
This will be game for small kids and I must use very strong colors. We will add a bunch of flowers everywhere to make even more colorful levels. We need to add a lots of small animals, creatures making funny noices (dialogs) when player touches them, this is simply the things which kids love.
Only I have to think what to do with that DWARF enemy because it is too violent with his axe. Maybe we will give him some smaller or funny weapon like hammer or so. Something which will be axeptable for kids, not to scare them...
Hm, what weapon to use?... Player have water pistol to fight against dragons, but Dwarf have to use same animations like with axe, just to look less violent... If you have idea...

I have an idea for the dwarf, replace the axe with the rattle stick (like children toy) and it will keep rattling when the dwarf moves, so the player can identify from far away that there is a dwarf some place near around him. And when the dwarf swing the rattle stick, it will create the itchy dust, so if player get hit he will become itchy, and the weapon to against it, is the non itchy powder.

it's just some idea

Hey i must say the screenshots look very nice ! Mostly because there is harmony with colors and textures.
How many guys are you working on that? Whats the gameplay? Run & jump & smash?
A good weapon for the dwarf for kid audience might be a hammer shaped balloon like kids play with on the beach

Its a pleasure to play around with A6. zzzgames.ifrance.com : go try & buy Streetkicker
