Warpbreaker Finished

Warpbreaker is finally complete.

I want to thank all the people here on the forum who helped me get this game out, and Conitec for their wonderful engine. I'd also like to thank my distributor for their help as well.

It took two years of on and off work, between my other contracts, to get Warpbreaker finished. Ten months of full-time work maybe more.

Again. Thanx for everyones help.

My distributor is the clever one when it comes to ad copy.

I decided not to try to market the game myself this time. It's good to give them a little cut and have them do all the leg work. They also gave me a little advance on the sales to finish, and that really helped me make my decision. Money does that.

I tried it, sorry I didn't get around to posting:

I still like the idea very much, and the game's very well done.
it's not perfect, one some ends you notice it's an indy game, but it's still very fun to play.
what I dislike the most is the interface. too many individual pixels.
and the ship's explosion + other particle effects could be better looking if some more work would have been put into them. it's kinda hard to oversee everything that's going on sometimes.
what I didn't get was the controls:... maybe I'm too dumb, but I didn't find out how exactly to fire (leftclick does it, yeah, but how do I fire the rockets??)

but the game itself, gameplay and the idea are great fun. it works very good as well, and that's still the most important thing. it takes a while to really get your head around the bouncing of the ball, because you're used to having it bounce back to you if it's right above you and coming down, in this case though it could bounce back to the upper screen border... but that's very cool about this game ...

break out's always been fun. you made another clone, that takes it to new dimensions... very fun!
congrats!!

Right Click or Space button to fire the rockets. I'll have the 'Nav Girl' that pops up tell you how the interface works in the next build.

On the graphics side, you can raise the resolution in the options and this helps some. The big problem is that I did most the art and all the programming, so the over all production quality suffered some.

Luckily I have a small art budget for my next project, so I can concentrate on what I'm good at. (programming)

Thanx for the comments. They're really helpful.

I downloaded the demo and put it on two of my computers (I have them set up side by side.) It was a hit with my wife and kids and I thought it was quite a lot of fun. However, on one of my computers I had some strange bugs occur. When I continued a game I would see and move the small game ship and the big one from the title screen (both were on the screen simulataneously.) There were no enemies and when I waited for the zoom the next level had no enemies. On one occasion when this happened there seemed to be an invisible force field right in front of the ship. I couldn't knock the ball down the hole (even though there were no enemies) and I would die almost instantly.

When these problems occured, if I clicked the 'Esc' key the menu would appear but everything remained the same (me moving the ship in a warp with no enemies.) If I pressed 'Esc' again then the exit game 'Yes' or 'No' would appear but behind the title screen's menu options.

I went ahead and purchased the game yesterday. It is currently running on my wife's computer where the same issue (as I posted above) is occurring. I also have noticed that it does not exit properly. I often have to go and terminate the warplaunch.exe manually in Task Manager.

Hopefully you can address these issues in the near future.

Thanks!

I might have fixed some of the game problems already with the newest build. Its going through the Trymedia QA right now. I'll make sure you get a copy ASAP.

The non termination issue sounds like a bad DRM wrap. I'll look into this as well.

Thanx for the purchase, and the following email.
