The Disenfranchised

The Disenfranchised is a Film Noir adventure game presented in glorious black & white and set in a 1930s urban setting. You'll have your choice of direct control or point & click movement, as well as many other standard customizations.

The game will feature a mature story unfolding over the course of one night in the life of a down on his luck gangster. The dialogue is presented in the original mafia slang from the period; a portion of which features narration from the main character as he struggles to make sense of the world and situations around him.

There is no release date, and as they say it'll be done when it's done.

All screens shown are strictly work in progress.

Thanks and yeah that's the guard. He's history, now but he lives on in a few of the older screens.

I've run into a bit of trouble with lighting. I'm using the latest private beta and I have a lot light leaking under and around walls. It doesn't matter if I'm using 2.0 lighting or older methods. The textures on the blocks are also moving by themselves giving it a disco effect.

Kind of cool but not for the 30s. ;\) If I can't figure it out, I'll have to post a bug report.

You should remove the disco ball above! \:D

Honestly, it looks as if you only updated the textures after replacing a texture with another texture of a different size.

It's a glitch in the new beta when you do a regular BSP build. This particular barren level has been unchanged and this disco effect started with it. I should make the light fixture rotate. \:D

Are you using a shader on the blocks? If that is the case, set the textures to flat, just to make sure that that is the problem. If it works afterwards, just send me the shader (in case that that is not a problem) and I will try to fix it for you which shouldn´t be too hard. In case you aren´t using a shader, try setting the textures to flat as well. If it works afterwards you know that the problem are wrong texcoords and that it is only a problem with shaded blocks. If it doesn´t work as well you can´t get more into the details for a bug report but you should do one anyways. (as long as it is not a shader problem)

I also have problems with the lightmapper. Lighting v2 looks a better then the other but there are still some heavy problems.

Other then that your project looks very nice and there is a great atmosphere on the screenshots \:\)

Edit: I did not notice that you wrote that they are moving very fast. That is really very strange.

No shaders. This is 100% old school lightmapping and BSP Mode. It's fine with Simple and before the latest private beta. I made the report and posted the above screen and one other in the Beta Forum. If jcl still has the hallway level I sent him then he should be able to reproduce it.

EDIT: I did set everything to flat but it still did it. It looks like the textures are shifting out of control for no apparent reason when built with BSP.
