Hi,

I have a few questions and it would be very helpful if anyone could answer them. I am targeting to build a third person shooter btw..

1) For the deco objects such as non moving windows, non moving already opened doors, tables, random items such as books, computers and light fixtures.. should I use models or prefabs.
2) For working doors, are pre build entities only the good option?
3) Is making the whole of a level, or a part of it in a software such as max , milkshape and exporting in mdl format a good idea?

In the above questions what would give me the most fastest rendering and compiling speed.. model or prefabs or level made in wed blocks??
Are there any tips or tricks to make the levels consume the least amount of ram when the game is run. I am targeting to keep the system requirements as low as possible.

Thanks in advance

I got a answer for number 1.
I you use prefab they will work fine but just sit there.
If you use models then you could program something to it.

For a example a window is a model , now shot the window and you can have it break.

Hi Ankit...

1) Yeh i suggest you model the items seperaetely and save them as .mdl. That way you can dynmically load them using scripting, which can increase fps.

2) For doors to open when a player is near them, you will need to use .mdl and then you can apply actions to make them move.

3) Its not wise to model everything all together. You may have some problems with the UVs as 3DGS only supports 1 UV set currently. Also you will take advantage of the BSP scene management which will create LOD and other scene rendering tricks.
