When I edit models and save them, how do I get WED and the engine to use the new versions?

It seems straightforward - there's no reason saving the .mdl and updating entities shouldn't work, but I can't find a way other than going through the army one by one and changing each to a new filename (can't just overwrite the old one), or mass-duplicating and arranging the groups all over again.

Is this a bug, a wish-list thing, or something I'm doing?

Well, I would first try when saving or exporting when it ask to overwrite i would obviously let it. Or I would erase the older model totally and save the new one in the folder in its place. Also make sure if you are just replacing it, all the names and everything is the same.

bad question,
you overwrite your model, add it to your project and compile it aggain or update only the level geometry
