Mafia Online Game - Main Menu 01
Okay.
Ah, I'm sorry, really, I am! But since
someone has to add a bit of negativity in the mix, I guess I'll do that in order to make up for the fact that nobody ever loved me. I'm still a ... "fan", if you want to put it that way, of your projects and your style, but precisely that is what bothers me about this project. May I elaborate?
First of all - it looks good from what I can see. The cameramovement in the video is really extremely jerky, and it hurts the whole thing a lot, but I'll take your word for it that it actualyl runs a lot smoother. Then it's a nice idea to have the camera run around town, although maybe it goes a bit too much "crazy". But then, who cares, right? Nice idea! I also like the music. Why is there a yellow, transparent square around the mousepointer? It's probably a bug, and probably easily fixed.

Seems like you use only a few house models and repeat them - the very first scene, also visible in the first shot you posted, shows the same house twice right next to each other - try to avoid this kind of thing! Also, it'd be nice to see "town" everywhere I look, the camera-path often put us at places where we could see barren wasteland. No idea if thats your intention, since, obviously, I don't know much about Freeport - maybe those are required for muffinproduction.
Other than that, it looks really neat, though - can't wait to see the character customization!
But... you see.... well... The thing that I think of when I hear your name, the one thing everyone associates with you is, of course
that you hosted all my games your crazy-art-style. Your biggest success, arguably, is
hosting my games, again Angelas World, and its strongest point was its clear, powerful, strong art. It doesn't have to be black and white, but you do have a certain style, also easily visible in your "Art"-section of your website. But for some reason, this style is missing from all your 3D-projects.

I want to see these crazy semi-Tim-Burton-worlds in 3D, I want to explore with characters with different eye-sizes and unlikely proportions. I like your somewhat-sinister art that makes you wonder, or the super-cute (or is the right term "kawaii"?) art you sometimes do, but this mafia-thing is more the realistic, everyone-does-it kind of thing. The mafia-guy is, at least,
something, but it's missing the usual Kiyaku-charm.
So call me a disgruntled, bitter, cynical ass, if you must, because maybe I just am one. All I want is just a bit more Kiyaku in my Mafia-online-game, okay?
