Mercuryus is right on this one, jcl has abused a lot of innocent users in his time cool. Usually I never manage to draw his attention in the first post. In order to prove that I've actually found a real bug I'll have to spend hours to figure out exactly what's causing the bug, read on what jcl has changed between the older working version and the new one where the bug started to occur and due to all the time i spend researching the bug on my own I even get to provide a workaround myself. If you don't do all that and just report the bug like so: "snd_remove used to work fine, but in a7.07.01 it crashes" you'll most likely be sent off with some wise remark.. That's the reason I only come around to post about 10% of all the bugs I actually find.

Quote:
Have you been forced to post bugs? I don't think so. And it's normal in industry, that there is a public beta test and that customers can report bugs. How to handle those bugs is not your problem, it's Conitec's. So if you are not satisfied with the product, why are you still here? I really don't get your problem.
If you want to contribute to improve the product, post bugs, if not, drop it.

I don't think that's a proper way to speak to a senior user like mercuryus. In all respect I think he's contributed to this community far more than you or Spirit and suddenly you're asking him to leave because he's not happy with conitec's customer service. I'm not happy either but I'm not going to leave, I'm going to make my feelings known so that this product that I love may eventually improve.

At least jcl has a dark humor quality to his responses. The Mods in this thread are just plain bullies.

Cheers,
Aris

PS: It saddens me to write this post because usually I never had a problem with either mod. I don't know what happened..

You are kidding, aren't you? I'm on these forums for 7 years now. I think I'm doing a good job, and I don't see his problem, nor can I understand why he makes such a fuss about this issue. As I said, you aren't forced to report bugs.

Of course you are. Sometimes, bugs can be show stoppers for your projects. But whatever the case, as a moderator you should be helping him with whatever problem he has instead of pulling rank on him. If you still can't understand what the big deal is, read my previous post.

I agree with mercuryus and Larry as well. Neither am I leaving for the same reasons as Larry.

I've seen it too lately (a fairly long 'lately') that the current MODS do not act or help when needed. Ever since conitec assigned random MOD statusses to people some time ago. I took it for granted, and will do so in the future. But it slightly bothers me.

That he didn't got help by one Mod does not mean that nobody was interessted in his issue. As you see, as he reposted it, he instantly got help by Conitec. I just can't understand why he makes such a fuss about it? He can complain about this specific Mod, but that's no reason to open 2 threads.
And: We are not Conitec's employees. We are here to enforce the forum rules, not more. We are not the user support. So I think you can understand my motive why I rebuked him.

You obviously don't understand my point of view (you wrote it several times now) except most others here so why do you take part?
There is nothing helpful in your posts.
Is it just to provoke someone (to be banned) or is it to guard a mod or conitec?

I posted to understand why you are so upset. I didn't know, that the thread you linked was the second time you posted it. And I wanted to make clear that a decision of a single mod does not represent whether the opinion of all mods nor the opinion of Conitec.
In my opinion this was a minor issue which was not worth to make such a fuss about it. I don't know if it was just the the straw that broke the camel's back, I don't know your history in posting bugs, but if so, it is not the right way to vent your anger here on the forum. Complain about the single mod who made the mistake, and as you see, he made one, because Conitec took care of your issue. But please don't throw them all into one pot, that's not fair and not objective. And don't start to insult instead of explaining your case. That's just childish.

Mods are not supposed to move any bug reports on their own. Period.
If Spirit did that, then he did it wrong.

JCL usually moves threads if bugs turn out as non-bugs. Sometimes there's more to it, though, but you can't catch everything.

About more detaield bug reports: that's acommon way to write detailed(!) bug reports. That's done here at work, that's done in many many situations.

"snd_play does not work" does not help in any way if jcl or whoever can't reproduce it. Think about it.
