Hello guys,
Yes...Yes... there are many topics about menu system.
And there are examples in AU.
But nothing of the examples is worked by me.
I tried to make it but it doesn't work.
i would have the menu by starting the game.
can anyone make me a lil script without the functions?
I use template-6 Walkthrough.
I hope anyone can help me.
to somebody: save your silly comments.
lots of thanx

This should be in user requests. And its rude to ask for you to ask for a someone to write you a script without saying please :P

The name is Error014. Heck, it's not that difficult to remember, now, is it?

Anyway, it's again time for a...

PUZZLE!

Put simply, a panel is an accumulation of 2D-Elements, like simple 2D-graphics ("bmap") text elements ("digits"), and buttons. In order to create 2D-buttons, like for a main menu, you can create a panel and add buttons to it, as stated in the manual:

Quote:
button = x, y, bmapOn, bmapOff, bmapOver, functionOn, functionOff, functionOver;

Defines a button, which can be clicked on and triggers a function.

To create such a button, first define a panel with buttons, like so

Code:
panel example
{
  button = 0,0,on_map,off_map,off_map,myfunction,NULL,NULL;
  button = 0,10,on_map,off_map,off_map,myfunction,NULL,NULL;
  button = 0,20,on_map,off_map,off_map,myfunction,NULL,NULL;
}

In order to display these buttons, bitmappointers have to be given, which point to the graphic of those buttons (like a 2D-bitmap with the text "NEW GAME" on it). In this example, the bitmap previously defined as "on_map" would be shown when the button gets pressed, and "off_map" otherwise.

When the user clicks on a button, "functionOn" is called (in the above example, the function named "myfunction" would be called for all three buttons), and, if desired, parameters are being passed as well.

You can get further hints in the manual. If you're really stuck, you may ask again, but make sure it's clear that you tried in your post.

With the above information, how can you create a main menu?

So when is Professor Layton 2 going to get released?

Perhaps this post will get me points for originality at least.

It's the internet equivalent of helping old women cross the street.

I really like my new "PUZZLE!"-help-approach, I must say. It doesn't give the answer completely away, so that the user has to do part of it himself, its more of a nudge in the right direction. Plus, it's a lot quicker to do than my usual superlong posts. But maybe I like them because it annoys the poster - they need to do something themself, and nobody will do the complete work for them.

Most of the time, I'm only hitting the reply-button for that one attempt at internet-humor. The helping part is only there so it's not spam. Error014: Making the world a better place, completely accidentally.

Your approach is good, but needs a bit of work - RTFM simply doesn't have the same impact! I'm a fan of short, semi-cynical replys. Maybe pictures or animated gifs could be even funnier!
We should be a team, helping beginners, and punishing those with too little info and too high expectations. If only I weren't always so afraid that I'd get banned laugh

If it pleases your paranoia, here's the quick translation:

This time it's a question that can be answered quickly by just taking a simple look at the manual (but error014 already did that for you and even explained it in a extremly simplified way).
