You can export in to FBX and then import in into MED and save it as mdl

edit: A few seconds to late^^

also you can export it as .3ds and import as 3ds model to med, but you must save as bitmap or any supported format your textures and choose them while importing.

Hi guys!

I also use 3D Studio max.
Is it normal that my .3ds model which is only 2 MB with all the textures will be more than 40MB after saving as .mdl???

Or do I make a mistake?? :S

depends on the format and size of your textures.

If they are all 1024*1024 24-bit .tga then that is going to bump the filesize up. Try reducing the size of your textures or use UV-mapping techniques instead.

Thanks I'll try it wink

BTW, if I use the 'cap holeS' then how can I reduce the numbers of the polygons?

[edit]
I managed to reduce the size of modells With the smaller textures. wink

Ran across this and thought I'd add to 3D Studio art path subject.

If you go in to the "manage skins" option and deactivate mipmaps you should be getting a bit smaller file size in your mdl-- i.e. 5mb to 4mb or so...

Of course then you have no mipmaps...
