Huh, uhm, hi Community. Here I am, practically begging for your help. You see, I have this awesome game, and you know what would make it even better? A nice sound system. Basically, I just need to play (several) sounds in reserve. This should be possible on a continous spectrum of frequencies, say, a "snd_tune" that also works with "-32" for the frequency (I've tried, it doesn't). Not a must, but still nice would be the ability to "seek", and all that. Volume-Control as well as balance-control would be nice as well. Now, here's the problem - I'm one of those A6 users. Oh snap! A6.60 (or whatever is the newest version), so I cannot use the (probably) amazing FMod-Plugin by HeelX. I've tried the BigDLL which also has soundsupport, but alas, it didn't help me here. While we're talking of problems, since I'm poor, I cannot pay (the game is going to be freeware*). I'd be willing to share some of my code, but I highly doubt anything of it is usable for anybody but me. So here I am, asking you guys. I've seen the Human ressources, but it's hard for me to judge if this request here goes beyond "simple" (which, sadly, it might). So now I'm posting here. Anyone? * in the very unlikely event that it won't, we'll work something out (we may do so in advance if you prefer, but remember, this is a very unlikely case)
Perhaps this post will get me points for originality at least.
Check out Dungeon Deities! It's amazing and will make you happy, successful and almost certainly more attractive! It might be true!

I don't know whether I understand you, but what about the plugin from HeelX? FMOD Thanks for the link, but I knew about that one. The problem is, I'm still using A6 (and C-script), so I can't use that one. Loopix... Thanks! We'll certainly do our best to make sure you enjoy that game as well! It might still take a while until it's finished, but I hope that soon, we can show something. So, everyone, you know that Loopix trees are the best you can find, and with an offer like that, how can you refuse? Again, if maybe you could use a codesnippet, then I'd be happy to offer something from my collection. I must confess, I was actually speechless when I read that offer - it's amazing and something I would have never expected. Thanks again!

FMOD is an excellent choice for advanced music/sound playing, processing and recording. My free plugin covers almost 85% of the features of the FMOD 3 Programmers API. The C-Script version is only a subset. The DLL was my entry into plugin programming for A6/A7 so, obviously, refactoring and extending would be waste of time.
If there is enough interest I would consider a rewrite with all features from my "old" dll and new features I missed back then. Plus, I could make the DLL being hybrid with almost full compatibility to C-Script, too - though.
I do not plan to do this before the next year (this requires time which I do not have atm for voluntary work), though, if some people like the idea to donate, I could work it out for the community. In this case I would then release the DLL for free.
If you are serious on using FMOD, do not forget the FMOD license, too. You are "just" using my DLL to access the FMOD system. So, you have to license it, too, if you are going commercial (though, for hobbiests and indies the fees are ultralow).
Greets, Chris

I'd also be interested as it looks like the 3DGS sound engine isn't going to get an overhaul for quite some time.

agreed, I also want this, or at least something that turns off hardware acceleration while in the engine.
