Hi All,

As a newcomer to Lite-C/Gamestudio (though I have used other 3D engines in the past crazy) I was wondering if it would be possible to install the relevant development tools directly onto a USB Drive?

The reason I ask is that I have a company laptop that is locked (by our IT Dept. mad) and I would like to be able to create my program whilst travelling to and from work.

Can someone please let me know if this is possible, and how I can go about it. I know quite a bit about computers, so if it requires some tinkering, then I will be able to manage it wink

Look forward to your replies.

Shando

I think a registry value gets set on the installation computer.

Why dont you try to deinstall gamestudio and install it on a USB,
and see if it runs?

Thanks Oxy,

Will give it a try and let you know.....

I did try to install to USB using my work laptop, but it said I didn't have Admin rights, so my assumption is that it's not going to work frown (unless someone knows a work around smile - I am only looking at installing SED & MED)

Thanks

Shando

Normally you can install it at your home pc, and copy the whole folder
after the setup onto the stick, that should work, users done that before.

But if you be able to start the exe files from the stick at work will
depend on your local IT-Policies.

Success is walking from failure to failure with no loss of enthusiasm.

I use to have several Gamestudio versions on a USB drive, so I can confirm that it works. Of course, you need to make sure that you have full access rights to that drive on the PC you're working with. Also, registry dependent features such as opening a script or level with double clicking on a c or wmp file won't work with a USB drive.

The easiest way is installing Gamestudio on the PC, and then copying the whole folder to the USB stick.
