Ok,
This is getting REALLY annoying. Why do you keep on pretending that I haven't done anything? I'm getting tired of having to link ALL of the stuff of done in THIS community over and over again. Either learn how to type in "foxfire" and press search or I'm seriously just going to leave. Take my help or don't, I don't care!

I'm sorry it takes sooo long and that not ALL of my stuff is "great" but im still learning and i hardly have time for typing this explanation. It's not like sharing this at ALL helps ME in any way. I already have a job and education. Even if all my stuff is bad, there is no reason to insult a "contributor" let alone a student!

Have a good week - Mike

This forum has become pretty hostile.

Here is an animated birdseye view of a single light scene, a video takes too much memory.

Won't let me upload any other type of picture anyway.

Sounds good Mike. Not to cause you more grief, but did you know Poser uses a "firefly" renderer frown But yours is something different so probably thats no problem with you. Unique labels are tough! Good Luck with this!

BTW, Do you still intend to share your SSAO solution?

Not two, not one.

who said that?

i didn't intend to. but contributor is a big word for your early stages, don't you think?

because you rarely show anything besides text, make promises and tell us what ubar features your thing's gonna have. we had projects like this for the acknex engine quite often, like sphere engine, x3/zeraphine, and what was that xexes plugin called, i don't remember. they were all either damn slow, or were outdated soon as the engine developed and certain commands didn't work anymore, or were just too hard to implement to use them on a daily basis.

so, one thing that's going to be the key to your tool is, how easy will we be able to use it. up to now, it's just a nicely written feature collection with a handfull of screenshots. and one released shader.

i don't want to discourage you, but you should work on the presentation of your work. a good product needs good propaganda, and you're sabotaging your own efforts with your just-text-wait-for-more-policy.

Hi,
Hope you had a nice week.
I am actually stuck on chosing the best method for rendering multiple lights at once (I would appreciate your opinions).
One method is brute force: render all possibly visible lights by creating and re-allocating VIEW* resources. The second is to initialize a set number of VIEW*s and place them in the positions and angles of the closest lights only (there may only be 8 VIEW*s but 3 omni-lights).
The first method has the highest preformance but causes inconsistent framerate and can be very "laggy" in complex lighting situations. The second is much more "stable" in the sense of framerate but causes visual errors when rendering complex scenes.

Which do you guys prefer? Unforunatley the project framework cannot support both.

I am also getting a website so that I can upload executables and movies. For now, I can e-mail you data that I contribute (I had a bad experience with file sharing websites).
