Hi guys! Haven't posted in a long time but I thought I'd share this with you.

Pulse (c) 2009

Last weekend me and some friends competed in the global game jam. The task was to create a game in 48 hours with the theme "as long as we have each other, we'll never run out of problems". We created a rhythmic game where two players work together to create a soundtrack by tapping the pulse key at the right time. The sound wave is visualized and the players have to work together to get it at the right amplitude and wavelength to catch the items in the level. The higher the wavelength, the more full the music becomes.

The teams consists of me and one other programmer (we used pair programming, but please don't look at the code; it's horrible), a concept/2d artist and an animator. Our game won the first prize in the Dutch version of the global game jam.

You can download the game here. If you like the game, please vote for us.

-Taco

EDIT: I just noticed that the game doesn't work properly on all pcs.. Here at my dad's pc, the particles look bad and only some sounds are played every now and then. I think this is because only a few sounds can be played simultaneously.

Congratulations! smile
I can only test it with the help of a friend, right?
Are we sitting side by side to hit the same keyboard?
Or, is it multiplayer? laugh

Thanks for your comments smile

Pappenheimer, you can play it with a friend behind the same computer or you can play both pulses at the same time yourself.

player 1 uses Q W E
2 uses I O P

nice idea, can get addicting.

Congrats.

(btw, when i first asked about GGJ to the ATOM(GGJ Ankara Loc.), when the GGJ announced, they said _we_ can not use non-open source engines, then i saw Unity as a main sponsor, then asked again, they told it's allowed. But it was too late, the attendant quota was already full.I am bit pissed off about it.)

Nice going wink wink
A couple of my friends when too but I don't know their results yet.
Anyway, very creative concept. I like the idea of gameplay in combo with the multiplayer aspect smile smile

Cheers
