@mercuryus: How can you compare the collecting of fishes in swarm with your cruel(!) fishing game! frown laugh

Thank you all for your kind feedback!

I got the idea for the game in Februar of last year, when I heard about a company with a swarm as logo and their 'credo' "together we are strong". I developed a small demo. Later, i've seen that the idea is quite common, there are several companies and organisations with a swarm of fishes as logo. My sister showed me a book for kids from 1963 called "Swimmy".

In December ChrisB joined the team, the game got its own characters, I developed a furry skin by accident, and thought, hey, this fits with the unreal world where a big predatory fish is sooo slowly that such a small fish can survive.

Why "Fish On Wheels"? There is a "swarm speed item" in the game beside others, and when using it, it looks a bit like on wheels. I think it makes curious, and when seeing the game after following the name's link, people won't be disappointed, although there are no wheels in the game! wink

I don't plan any different swarm AI, because I felt the movement is complete as it is now. It works only without collision detection.

The framerate was bad when I made the video, around 10 fps on my 3GHz, 1024RAM, Radeon X300, but I exaggerated the number of fishes, and I'm still optimizing.

Dunno if you remember the user "FeiHong".

I think this fits to Pappenheimer very well.
He has a unique style, his real deal.

Small update on the main character, because I've got the feedback that he isn't smiling. I tried make his smile visible.

What do you think? Too cute for adults? Keep in mind that it isn't targeted at kids, but at every age.
For the big picture, right-click on the pic, or click on the link below. Thanks! laugh

Very well done, the gameplay looks good to me!
The schwarzer Fisch looks better now and I don't think that his appearance is too cute for adults. The animations could be improved, though (for example the bend of fish's body while moving is missing).

Dont you think that it would be faster to use just a slight pp-blur to simulate the fur of your main character since the effect is less markedly over bigger distances? You could use the "real" fur shader for the huge fishes in the background wink
Nevertheless nice game.
