This is really neat, looks like fun!

actually in my head i just figured it out, just take the projected target map, and draw the character on in where he should be and all you have to do is know that if the place is marked as shadow its not free... actually a lot easier than i thought. of course damocles' thoughts were basically almost exactly that so i give credit more to him

can't you just make the player invisble but still render the shadow, a lot simpler?

Simpler? That's not how it works. You can interact with objects that are normaly not even close to eachother. You can't when using a "3d" player.
