Bad Rats: the Rats' Revenge

Hello,

We are presenting our last game project, Bad Rats: the Rats' Revenge.

It's a physics puzzle game, with a theme, Rats x Cats, a lot of humor, a lot of cartoon blood and cartoon violence...

It's really a funny game, I think one of our best games, and laughters are surely included when playing.

The game was made made still with A6.6, we are updating to A7 just now, and all physics is based in ODE and some other own codes.

We have some other videos, images and extra info in our site:
www.invent4.com

The demo version will be available soon.

All the best,

A.B.

Hello,

Thanks for all nice comments and suggestions.

We are closing the game, finishing some last tests, and the demo should be available next week, so you can try it by your own, and most questions will be answered.

The game is great, at least we had a lot of fun developing it. Most people that tried the game liked it as well, so we are optimist with possible good results with Bad Rats.

We are still without publisher, we have started contacts and presentations some days ago.

We have the interest from some big publishers, but a first has declined, probably because of the cartoon blood and the polemic included on the game - what doesn't fit with their product line.

But, the cartoon blood, the cartoon violence, the body pieces flying around, and the polemic are part of the game concept, surely.

The bet is that all the violence, the polemic, will help with advertising, with marketing.

Yes, we have influences from games as T.I.M, Crazy Machines, and several classic cartoons, itchy & scratchy, Tom & Jerry, Roadrunner, and others.

Comparing with other games of the genre, we have a differential, a theme, humor, and cartoon blood wink.

Okay, thanks again for the nice replies, and we'll post here relevant news on Bad Rats.

All the best.

AB

As I understand the marketing point of view I also have to agree that it will not be appealing to publishers who whant to sell to casual gamers and / or kids.

So maybe a soft version might be a good solution to please all groups of audience.

I personally dislike this violence and it would be the reason why I would not show it to my kids although I really like the graphics in the video and I find the gameplay interesting.

Maybe, to make it more marketable to "squeamish" publishers, give the game a
parental-lock to cover the gore with cartoon "dust-clouds" or a simple
cartoon panel with CENSORED scrawled on it that all the gore is
GUARANTEED to stay behind.

Great game, love it but buggy(!?)
Does anyone else have these problems with the demo, or is it just me?
(Ive only tried on one (fairly old) PC so far...)

Mission 2 - "Show original Solution" runs but ball fails to hit bomb...
Mission 3 - Cannot select "Lung Rat" for placement. He doesnt highlight.
Mission 3 - "Show original Solution" runs but ball fails to hit microwave...
Mission 4 - Cannot select "Fat Rat" for placement. He doesnt highlight.
Mission 5 - Cannot select "Vacuum Rat" or "Archer Rat" for placement. They dont highlight.

Thats as far as Ive looked at.
