When you whant to design a level in WED what is best to use?
Make everything with models, like wals, houses, funitures and so on.
Or is it best to use the prefab, cube and cylinders and so on in WED?
I see that it takes much longer time to build if I use prefabs, cubes and so on. And much faster with models.
Does the loong build time have any effect on the "speed" of the game?

you don't want to design a level with MED, it is for modeling individual models.
you are correct, it takes a long time to build prefabs. but the speed is actually faster with them in certain cases (and you can lightmap them).
build time has nothing to do with the framerate of a game, it is based on how you design your levels.... (gamestudio is very optimized, it can do a lot)....
also, there is a new way to make levels, it is called "GED", I was waiting for months for that, and am very happy!

I did mean WED i mix those to together.... So in your opinion it is better to make the level with prefab, cubes or cylingers. And it dosent matter how loong time the build takes in WED , it will not affect the "speed" of the game. If I understod you right?

the speed is dependent on so many factors, build time for "prefabs" has not much to do with it. (unless you have a scene with hundreds of thousands of polygons).... in matter of fact, once you lightmap them, it is quicker than dynamic lights..
I personally don't like using the WED to make the models, and I am able to convert models I made through Wings 3d into "geometry" so I can use radiosity lightmapping, but became discouraged with how long it takes to get the models in and light them.
I just make my models in Wings + Fragmotion, then load it (so it is light-speed fast to get my models in), and build light-speed fast.... and I use shaders and dynamic lights...
It is a shame, because I would really like to use radiosity, but it takes too long to load my levels (and build).... maybe I am doing something wrong?

I think that you can design your levels faster with WED, until you are good with modeling.... if you are good at modeling, you can use MED or another modeler just as well.... so if you want to get things designed fast, it could be a good idea to use WED for a while...
Also, GED comes with the new beta of Gamestudio. do a forum search for "GED", and there is a download link.... once you use GED, you might not want to use WED, though. GED is awesome and has some neat terrain editing too (and GED is realtime, you can see shaders, too!)

I did use WED a lot when I was "active" using A6 commercial. But I was unpatient when it came to build something , it took forever. So thats why I am asking if it is better to use models instead of using the things WED provides.... But it is about 1 year since I used this program, and did get the A7 commercial as a gift for my birthday. Then I discover how fun it was .... But I also found out how fast I forgott how to do this. So now I am playing around to "update" my self again.

I read in the manual somewhere (forgot where) that one should only use block geometry to build the basics of your level elements only and then use models and entities to fill in the details. Well, Ive been trialling this in the last day or so and it does work well then oddly enough, I went back to modelling with blocks again after a brief period of pain some years ago (too impatient then)and its all very fast if you use 'snap' and break up the level into definable blocks (rooms with passages leading to next room type of thing), no extra 'jutting' out peices, set flag none to surfaces the camera wont see to tell the camera not to look there, so speeding up buiiild time. Models are fast but you need to "import" them to make them static or write my.dynamic = off;so that you can shadow map them or stuff like that
Use the 'manual' Luke, the manual is your friend. 'Self reminder' My WebPage
