Hi, i'm trying to pass command line arguments to acknex.exe.

First of all, i created a shortcut to acknex.exe and placed it on my desktop. I went into 'Properties' and in the 'Target' box i have...

"C:\Program Files\GStudio7\acknex.exe" C:\Users\DJB\Desktop\3DGS_temp_script.c

... I close the shortcut, and execute it. The engine loads the script on my desktop and runs it, no problems.

Now i'm trying to add an extra switch like -diag or -black.

I've tried just adding it to the end...

"C:\Program Files\GStudio7\acknex.exe" C:\Users\DJB\Desktop\3DGS_temp_script.c -diag

... but it still doesn't create the "acklog.txt" file.

What am i doing wrong?
Thanks, DJB.

Should the command not behind the .exe? Like at Half Life.
There you start your command line with ...half2.exe -devmode

But i dont know if this works. I never tryed it.

"C:\Program Files\GStudio7\acknex.exe" -diag "C:\Program Files\GStudio7\projects\***\***.cd\***.exe"
the acklog was in the same folder as the acknex.exe

Hope this helps
*tested*

Oh, i was under the impression that the acklog.txt is created in the same directory as the script.

From the manual >

"The engine will change the current directory to the folder where the script is located, compile it, and start the game."

-diag > "Outputs diagnostic messages into a file in the current folder".

When a script is passed as an argument, it changes the current folder to the same as the script. -diag should also be written to that folder.

I am getting the acklog.txt file in the GStudio7 folder, but then isn't the manual wrong? Or have i misunderstood something?

yeah, from what the manual is saying it should be changing the current folder, which i'm sure it does as it actually locates all the required files/folders.

unfortunately it seems to not either be retaining this as the current folder, or creates the acklog.txt before the current folder is changed. frown
