Hey,

I have a problem with my PC. When i start it up my graphic card (i'll call it "G" for now on in this post) works odd. It's ventilator runs faster then slows down, then runs faster again. My monitor is not turning on. I tested my G in friends computer and it's running normally.
So now i started my PC with integrated G and it's working normally.
So i dont understand what's the problem. What piece of hardware is not working normally?
I have BFG GF9800gtx+ oc. It needs 2 additional PSU connectors to work properly.

Now as i said. My pc is working normally if i remove my G but my G is working normally on pc of my friend.
Could the problem be my PSU, or motherboard(it's PCIE slot)? Please help, i'm getting crazy.... laugh

If the ventilator (you mean cooling-fan?) is changing speeds then its PROBABLY the PSU being too weak.
OR one the the additional connectors is intermittant bad.

Thats by best 'educated' guess.

But I would first try testing it in YOUR PC, but on your FRIENDs monitor,
or test it in your FRIENDs PC, using YOUR monitor.
Just in case its your monitor at fault, or the bale between your PC and monitor.

Wow, what a coincidence, my friend has exactly the same card, manufacturer and all (btw, a giant card, its about the size of a two liter soda bottle) anyways, I built his computer almost a year ago, but its never worked quite right, and recently (last month or so) its been freezing up his computer, so traded him to see if it'd work in my computer (i have a 9600GTX) well I got as bsod (with win7) turns out its the same issue, but with vista and win7 there is a built in freeze timer that will crash and shut down your computer if the gfx card freezes for too long. After pulling my hair out and searching for days I find there is no real solution that will work (a couple of solutions work for some people) for what is called the nvlmkm.sys error. look it up a lot of people have it, you might want to read what it does but yeah, we just rma'd the card about 3 days ago, so you talking about this card on here is kinda ironic.

So this 'driver' issue actually causes the fan to change speeds?

i'll see about that lostclimate

evilsob, my monitor is working. and my card is working on another pc. my whole pc worked for more then a year normally without any freezes or glitches. i read that this card has some trouble with overheating and it happened to me that sometimes my pc turned off when playing some better games so i installed one additional fan on the case and it worked fine since then. and now something's wrong.
btw, my PSU is around 800 watts.

my first guess was either psu or it's additional power cables for my card or pcie slot.

So you do not see any BIOS coming up and the POST?
(If thats the case it might aswell be an BIOS error, a bad CMOS battery or a mainboard failure)

800W psu is unlikely(but not impossible) to be a problem then unless its got a fault.
BTW, any chance you can borrow an nvidia card from someone that needs the 'extra' power line/s?

Also, when i said to try with another monitor on your PC, I wasnt siggesting yours is faulty,
I was looking for the posssibility that the new card "doesnt like" your monitor.

See if you can look up the motherboard bios details on the net. Your motherboard
may need a bios update for that video card...
