Dear Friends,
we published new model pack - Northern vegetation model pack



36 models including all lod stages (20 unique models)
Textures up to 512*512 px size in TGA (including height, spec and normalmaps), ready to use in your 3D work.
Most of the models map their uv-coordinates into the same texture. This way your engine will render fast and uses very little texture changes.
Color, spec, normal maps included!

I also download your Flowers, but the Textures shows up only from one side. How is it with the vegetation Pack, shows here on both sides or also only from one?

@Enduriel: clone and mirror the normals is a option, but i think if i buy a model it have to be completly!
And also the Bitmaps shows up where it have to be transparent, no alpha cannel. Not finished Product...

PS: I buy a lot of other models from Dexsoft, they are all great. But the plants...

Edit: Ich schreib mal auf deutsch, da mein Englisch nicht so gut ist: Bei den Modellen wird die gesammte Bitmap angezeigt, auch die die durchsichtig sein soll. Die Blätter werden somit als Rechtecke dargestellt.

It is heavy to make plants, because the gameengines handle the alphachannel
unsorted, so some models look to much transparent, when 2 alphachannels come
together.

I fight with this also.

I think png is better then tga? not sure just a idea...

I also buy models from dexsoft laugh but not the plants.

I think you don`t understand the problem. Sorry for my bad english, try to explain:

If you have a flower, the flower is round. But the Texture for the flower is a Rectangle. So in the texture should the flower have a alpha = 255 and all outside the round flower should have a alpha = 0, have to be invisible. But it isn`t, all is visible in my projekt...

So the flowers shows up as a lot of rectangle...

There are different options to achieve transparency in a game engine.
In the Acknex engine you can achieve this with an alpha channel and with the overlay and d3d_autotransparency (http://www.conitec.net/beta/aentity-overlay.htm) (http://www.conitec.net/beta/ad3d_autotransparency.htm) (http://www.conitec.net/beta/d3d_alpharef.htm)

For drawing the backside of a triangle you set the cullmode within the shader or fixed function to a certain 'value'.

Maybe, these are the most common ways of drawing plants in the different engines - I don't know.

(I am more used to use tgas, as well, but using tgas you need very good sorted triangles within the plant, depends on its complexity, or you need at least a fixed function to skip the sorting)... (Loopix provided that ffp with his plants or with one of his other contributions. Look for loopix-project.com)

I think i understand a little bit.

I can make the texture instead of a alpha channel with a black background.
And the black background will be later the transparent part?

d3d_alpharef = 255; // remove overlay seams completely
And i have set the overlay flag for the model.

Works perfect!

Use overlay whenever possible, this can make a better performance if you have a lot of objects.
Mostly it will reduce the overdraw.
