Has anyone used the free Adventure GameStudio program ?

http://www.bigbluecup.com/yabb/index.php

I saw a tutorial in a magazine today, and it looked interesting. Apparently, there are free add on modules that can add 3D etc.

When I looked at it, it lead me on to a free 2.5D engine that looks even better, ie Wintermute

Anyone ?

Thanks

Can't say too much about that Adventure Gamestudio. When it's about cheap to free adventure engines Wintermute and Visionaire Studio most certainly are the best choice (I'd tend to prefer Wintermute though)...

i did used it like couple of years ago,(waay before i found about 3dgs). And made my first actual game with it, but i knew only a little about scripting so it looked like sh*t. It was more like an interactive story than a game.

yes wintermute is a bit newer, ags is for games like the ones from lucas arts era.
If i had to use one of these id probably pick wintermute.

Wintermute is what you want to stick with if you go that route. The current version is the last one until 2.0 unless he does a bug fix release. Shaders made it into the last one and wasn't supposed to happen until 2.0 but he figured he put it in since someone would probably hack it in eventually. 2.0 will be going along those lines with more emphasis on shaders, the 3D side, and all new creation tools. It probably won't stay free, though.

You might want to look into beta testing Lassie Shepherd, too:
