I've been working on a game for some time, but haven't publicized it at all until now.

working title: Archipelago
game style: FPS/RPG

Set on an alien planet named Archipelago, this planet of many islands in a vast sea is swarming with dangerous creatures and lost alien relics. You play as a relic hunter out to make his fortune amongst other hunters, bandits, and scientists all trying to find their destiny on this new-found world.

The game will feature large terrain areas, many of the latest effects, lots of weapons with randomly generated stats, and an RPG system with leveling, skills, and inventory.

The aim is to sell the game for a low price online, not to get published in retail or compete directly with big name companies. It may seem like a very ambitious project, but I am designing everything with rapid development in mind. A lot of things are being generated procedurally to save time on level creation and scripting.

So far I've been doing everything by myself, but if anyone is interested in helping out I would be very happy (particularly need 3D modelers). I have worked on a number of commercial games and other projects, so I know how to manage and finish a project.

Here are some current screenshots:

Good man, look's really good. Like how the enemies are not your traditional bad guys, but instead more of a doom, halo type enemy. Keep up the good work. The fact you have been working on this a while tell's me you are putting a lot of work and effort into this project, and not trying to rush anything. So good on ya !

thanks, it's still early days yet for many things, but I already have made good progress.

Here's some shots showing time-of-day and the dynamic sky:

This looks excellent. Great job, and keep it up!

By the way, do you mean not to include hands on your HUD weapon models? Or is that to be changed?

the trees look great, but the terrain is a bit .. grainy..
btw maybe you can add links to the images so that people can enlarge them with a single click.

How about adding a video of this amayzing game? So that we can feel the atmosphere? Videos are always better than screenshots laugh The first screenshot is the best!!!

Just ideas :
-More big rocks meshes and a lot bigger Oblivion style or Crysis instead of only terrain texture for rocks
- rework the texture of rocks little meshes it is too dark compared to the level : they don't mix in environnement : they need similar lightening and colors
- Floor texture could be High res ( or use some textures in high res from follout 3 mods ,just to see the difference)
-plants need an alpha cut shader

Anyway looks very good and i like the idea of RPG elements like in Borderlands that is an incredible addictive game.
And already looks great and make us want to play it laugh

Keep it up !

The Trees look like flat sprites on the screenshots.

There are no shadows but the plants have a
look as if they where in direct sun.
So there should be either some shadows on the terrain,
or the plants and sky should have a "clouded sky" look.
