well, as there seems to be some kind of nostalgia fever, i decided to pack out my old games and re-present them here in their utter unglory.

Today I present you my very first and most re-recurring project: ChargeGun (although I might change the name if i ever "reboot" this). I started it back in the day when the first ever screenshots of "Halo" were unveiled. Just shortly after I more or less knew how to use WED, and if you remember WED, the "Undo" function did not work properly at all.

So, demo No. 1 would be my very first attempt. Back in the day you could still publish with the trial and there was no "intergrity check" so you could still tamper with the wdl files after your trial expired.

This is how it looks:

More screens here: http://7a-media.com/files/CG_Screens0/

and the download here: http://7a-media.com/files/CG_VeryFirst.zip (~ 4 MB) (Works in vista/win7) (Eye cancer warning)

After I bought A5(notice, quite some time after A4), I modified the "Planetside level", but I have no demo of that, although I have found an awesome screenshot(apparently still with the trial, bare with me here, it is quite some time ago):

I eventually ripped the texture from the HL1 mod "Gunmen" and used them on my own.

After some time working on my other project "Dark Age" (tomorrow, too many screenshots and other files still to gather) I wanted a bit of change and rebooted the thing, I scrapped everything and built a small and quick sample level with the templates, even though at the time I already knew how to code on my own.

This is how it looks:

More screens here: http://7a-media.com/files/CG_Screens2/

and the download here: http://7a-media.com/files/CHARGEGUN_DEMO_2.EXE (~ 5 MB) (Works in vista/win7) (installer, sorry too lazy to repack)

Then 1 or 2 years later, i scrapped everything (again) and put the thing back into the SciFi setting.

Everything coded from scratch, and a extremely shitty movement system.

This is how it looks:

More screens here: http://7a-media.com/files/CG_Screens3/

I have tried to debug the code enough so it would be halfway usable, but from A5 to A7 was too huge a leap. (and I didn't use *wait (or nowadays *time_step) for movement and other things. So the entire thing is fast as steroids on my modern PC in comparison to my rustbucket back in the day, where I had 15 FPS tops)

BUT! I have found some old videos. As a side note, the health+shield worked, and it did just like in halo. For some reason though i never implemented shield recharge for NPC's... I also had more level than just the one and the AI test level, but for some reason they weren't on the backup...

http://7a-media.com/files/cgvideo1.avi - 12 MB
The AI test level, shows the AI, and how to coordinate squads or single units from a squad.
The code realization was horrible though, I would know better today. But I was proud of it at the time.

http://7a-media.com/files/cgvideo2.avi - 11 MB
Tutorial + Spaceship level 1, with a bit of the storyline as soon as we get to the bridge. And yes, once again, everything ripped from Gunmen.

http://7a-media.com/files/cgvideo3.avi - 3 MB
Revised Bridge story script, more action and hollywoodesque effects.

Tomorrow I will show you the iterations of Dark Age: The Secret of Ostlon. But here you have enough nostalgia for one day.

It still looks better than my first steps, since I didn't even know
how to add the standard wad...
