Hi, i was wondering if anyone of you is doing some freelancing.
I'm a german citizen but currently i live in Canada. The law is different between both countries. In germany you have to pay taxes if you earn more than ~7.800€ per year.
In canada you have to pay taxes when you earn more than 30.000CAD per year.
So i was wondering, if i do freelancing while being in canada, do i work under canadian law or german law, or isn't it bound to anything until you register it (when you work under a custom name)?
Cause i'm living in canada using a 1 year work permit which ends soon. I am doing freelance work on a low budget base (<20.000 a year) and i want to stay a visitor after my work permit expires. So i dunno if i am allowed to go on working as freelancer or not. If i am bound to the german law, it shouldn't be a problem to stay here as visitor and work but pay german taxes.
Does anyone know more about it?
Thanks!

As long as you are working under the Canadian work permit, you are bound to Canadian law, also Canadian tax law about working foreigners may be different from the native Canadians(fi. You may not need to pay taxes even if you earn more then 30k CAD, or you may need to pay even if you earn less and that kind of stuff).
I do not know if you can work without a permit as freelancer. also don't know which law you are bound to in that case.

I've always thought that you're bound by the law of the contry you're in.
