Hey guys, Ive just downloaded the free version of A8, and i was wondering where i should start with this program. Any ideas on books, or... ebooks, or sites, stuff like them? Also, does anyone have any good ideas on simple exercises i should practice like hello world, or small game ideas like maze games in Flash? I am quite good with flash, ive been working with it for just over 4 years now. I love to learn new languages, switching from AS2 to AS3 was quite exhilarating! =) And my next step is...well...this. Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

Definitely start here: http://tutorial.3dgamestudio.net/, after that look through the AUM Magazine issues. Very useful.

I guess you have an idea, already. This is how I started, on July, 4th laugh

I did the lite-C tutorial, rich advised. It`s fantastic for beginer. Instead of working with toturial files, I started my first project directly - First things for example were creating an own level or only showing Scores on the screen. At the end of the tutorial, I´ve got this:

My First 10 Seconds with Gamestudio

And it`s nothing more, than you can see. A Player-Entity, which can move and shoot and some Enemy-Entities, which (c_)move into the level.

If you know a little bit about a C-similar language, you will get cool results within a few weeks. If not you have to learn some more about lite-C before. laugh

Cheers

I think The Online Manual is usefull too.

I just started out myself and still find it tricky to get anything done. But then again, i have no experience whatsoever.

But i found ppl are very helpfull on the forums whenever you have a question.

Ed.
