Only editions are up and down compatible. Different engine versions are backward, but not forward compatible. However, as WDL does not support new A8 commands anyway, a WDL script will run the same way in A8 and A7.

Of course we do not recommend using WDL for templates. WDL is the script dialect of A6 and earlier versions. A7 and A8 scripts should be written in lite-C.

Most likely it means that you can create a project with A8 Pro and it will also run with the A8 free version, although slower and without the Pro effects of course.

Ah, thank you. I've had the chance to try out GameStudio a bit, and have just bought A8 Extra. The issue I'm having is with using a first-person script with the simple capability of walking around. It doesn't seem that this version comes with scripts for doing this, and implementing a series of biped WDL scripts from A7 doesn't work either. Is there some pre-made script that will do this for me and work with A8, or do I have to make one?

WDL from A7 works with A8. I have tried it.

But much better first person scripts can be done in lite-C, there are some such scripts in the last 4 AUM issues.
