Well... See for yourself.

Problems with publishers regarding their amazing stance on DRM (summarized as this: "We don't use it"?). Nobody really knows thus far. The website is inaccessible, only giving us a note:

Quote:

Dear GOG users,

We have recently had to give serious thought to whether we could really keep GOG.com the way it is. We've debated on it for quite some time and, unfortunately, we've decided that GOG.com simply cannot remain in its current form.

We're very grateful for all support we've received from all of you in the past two years. Working on GOG.com was a great adventure for all of us and an unforgettable journey to the past, through the long and wonderful history of PC gaming.

This doesn't mean the idea behind GOG.com is gone forever. We're closing down the service and putting this era behind us as new challenges await.

On a technical note, this week we'll put in place a solution to allow everyone to re-download their games. Stay tuned to this page and follow us on Twitter and Facebook for updates.

All the best,
GOG.com Team

As they say, you'll be able to redownload all the games you've bought there, apparently starting thursday.

Me, I only bought Freespace 2 there (mostly because I don't have my own Paypal-account), but it was a painless experience and worked like a charm. It's really sad to see them go, I was really happy a service like that existed.

Perhaps this post will get me points for originality at least.

Check out Dungeon Deities! It's amazing and will make you happy, successful and almost certainly more attractive! It might be true!

Hm. Rumors that it was just that were around yesterday, but I hadn't thought they'd go this far.

Wow, how awful.

Oh well, at least they're still around. And who wouldn't want to buy from a company who pulls their website and promised game-access for a few days with no warnings and no real reasons!?
Seriously, I'm not really angry, but this kind of PR stunt seems unusual - I'm sure there are other, better ways to do that without pissing off your (potential) customers.
