hi community,

I have got questions about exporting animations form blender:

- which exporter do I have to use so that I can use bone weights for a blender-animated model
- which is the right way to animate the model if I want to export to blender? weight paint or envelopes. I used to export baked envelpe-animations with 3dgs exporter and it didnt work.

Thanks in advance!!

You need to use the fbx-exporter from blender. The 3DGS-exporter from ventilator supports vertex animation only.
You can't export the animations from MED to blender, at least not in a way that I had figured out. Maybe, you just mixed it up in your question. If you meant how to export from blender to MED: it doesn't matter how you apply the weights, as far as I remember Acknex only supplies two weights.
If you don't have the Pro or Com version, you can't use bones weights in the engine, then you have to convert it to vertex animation to get the proper deformations.

In Blender enveloppes, or Bone Weights at final are the same thing.
You have just to export from Blender in FBX format, than import
in MED by using FBX import ! It works great !

ok thanks a lot, so I can work on my blender model reassured!!

btw: the search function of this forum is awfully bad, there are so many great contributions I cannot find any more!!

Edit: I thought there would be an import button for fbx files in med, but I couldnt find one, how do I import the fbx model?

File --> Import --> Model from Fbx(2010)
Better choice for searching on these forums is google - sad but true.
