I have a map that has about 24576 entities and nothing else.

I try to do a simple map compile and get this error:
Critical error
E604 Map Size - Too many entities

ok, the manual says max_entities can be unlimited...so what's the limit that can be placed in WED? I cant find any mention of this limit in the manual.

Sphere Engine--the premier A6 graphics plugin.

I think it's about 8096 or so. (Btw. I would like to see the limit increased/ removed.)

I have read somewhere at the forum(not sure though)
that the engine can handle 'unlimited' entities,
but not all of thesecan be placed in the world editor....
it seems to have a limit somewhere?

Why the heck would you have that many entities...
Did you never try running the game prior?
What are they... blades of grass?
Painkiller is right... you can add a line of code with the number of entities max value. You can also do that for particals...
If you have that many entities and they each are fairly large files like say trees at even a quarter meg each... you are going to really run at a slow frame rate.
That is why I have run-time trees that show up where you look and are removed from memory where you no longer look...
If you give a little bit more description... maybe we can help better.
G'd luck...

No, it's about the map compiler, not about the engine (thus max_entities is useless here).
Why would anyone need to have so many entities?
Simple example: When you build a (2D) level out of sprites and blocks, the entity count grows dramatically.

You put all those manually on level? Wow...
Why don't you just spawn it in the script suing some kind of algorithm like reading from text or bitmap?

When you need 1 minute per entity, for manually placing 24576 entities you must have worked more than 2 weeks day and night, thats what I call dedication! laugh

If its grass or the like you should definitely place it with a seed function by script. AFAIK the limit of manually placed entities was 10000, but version 8.10 has a new map compiler, try that, maybe it also can manually place more than 10000 entities.

Ever heard of PLUGINs? Maybe he's using some plugin to place his entities in WED.

There is copy&paste. (When you duplicate something, I do not mean whole level parts but big groups of entities that can be changed in some details or attributes, so they do not look the same.)
