After I read the following post at the blender.org site,
it might be an idea to inform you about companies that sale 3d modelling/animation software, that is in fact free.

this post covers the topic more in detail:
http://www.blender.org/blenderorg/blender-foundation/press/re-branding-blender/

and this are the sites that are trying to let people pay for FREE software:
http://www.illusionmage.com/
http://www.3dmagix.com/

I think most people won't trust these sites anyway, but it would be sad if they could make ANY money! tongue

Don't underestimate those pages, as they're made with a well known toolset for internet marketing, and the leads which are
routed onto them are in most cases already prepared by other sales funnels for buying the thing they expect to find there.

I don't support this but be sure the owner will make a good bunch of money with it...
And from a legal perspective he's allowed to do so, of course except for the images copyright infringements.

... which is why it's very stupid to use the images.

but, if I'm not mistaken blender's under a licence that makes sure you have to note it's blender if you redistribute it. Or isn't it? So it's not legal at all.

Yes, it is illegal.

Blender is aware of the problem by the way: http://www.blender.org/blenderorg/blender-foundation/press/re-branding-blender/

How can YOU help?

A grass-roots solution is to push 3DMagix and IllusionMage from the top search results in Google, and replace them with a link to the article on Blender.org. This should warn people who are about to buy this ‘product’.

To do so, we’ll need as MANY well-formed incoming links on that page. Be sure to use the names 3DMagix and IllusionMage in the text part of the link. Here’s a piece of code that you can use on your own website:
<a href="http://www.blender.org/blenderorg/blender-foundation/press/re-branding-blender/">3DMagix, 3DMagixPro, IllusionMage, scam</a>

If so ,it can make some sense
Even though it is probably still illegal
