Hello All,

nomis here finally worked through the tutorials on c-lite and ready and waiting to get started with making my first game which yes I know will suck really badly frown

However we all need to start some where right?

Just trying to create a new map in WED and I have gone to file > new and it says:

Can't open script file: 'movement.wdl' with an ok box. I click ok.

Can't open script file: 'messages.wdl' with an ok box. I click ok.

Can't open script file: 'menu.wdl' with an ok box. I click ok........

....

any idea what im doing wrong on my very first step.

could it be that 3dgs is hardcoded to look for scripts on a certain path? as I have installed the game in a custom folder on a custom drive dedicated to game development. (costly but cannot take any chances when working on the next uber game laugh

thanks in advance.

Actual it is trying to load the template, when it is throwing those errors to you.
But you really dont need them tongue

But well, i do not know why you get those error messages.

When I go to File->New Level in WED, everything is okay, I have no templates, and I am happy laugh

I gathered that lol.

however now I have done what I said above it never comes up now....

One thing I have noticed having it setup the previous way and its doing it same setup this way is when I go to behaviour / actions there blank theres nothing in there. and in most tutorials it says pick one from the drop down box but my drop down boxes for presets (temapltes) are blank........

any ideas?

Now select Object / Add Model, and pick the guard.mdl from the list. Note the blue guy appearing in the window. If you just see a cube, you can get him his real shape by selecting File / Preferences / Advanced and check Display Entity Shape. Place him so that his feet touch the floor. If you like to, you can rotate the him to face the right direction. Now, with the model still selected, click right and select Properties. Here you can assign various characteristics to the model (see below). If you check shadow, the guy gets a cool dynamic shadow which gives more realism to the whole thing. Click onto behavior now and pick the player_walk action instead of the non defined action (ndef) out of the action list which comes up by clicking the folder symbol (if you don't see any actions in the list you have forgotten to create a script), and then enter a 1 into his Skill1 field.

im trying to do this but when I go to add model all I see is first_level which is my level name....

i dont see a choice of models.....grrrr.
