Not bad !
Curious how would that run on my PC ?
I tried the demo of the engine and i was not convinced :
- No folliage or tree painter for terrain
-the lightening was broken in some ways !
-Too much contrast on lights and sun
- Very strange beahviour of materials sometimes like footprints bugged like plane without texture near a light i placed ??
- flickering sometimes near points lights i placed !

Well bugs ...

Anyway for pure MMO or FPS it can do the job :
mmo

But i target mainly casual arcade or arcade/RPG game !
Not terrain based specially also !

So i'm really happy with A8 even if it needs improvements on level editor and visual 3D artist tools laugh !

Level editor and visual 3D artist tools aren't the only things which needs to be improved in 3DGS.

What else? Scripting is great, cool things get implented.

It's great that we get new things rather than templates or ready-to-use systems.

laugh

Forest Editor Tutorial

Ground Cover Tutorial

Update your DirectX runtimes... DirectX June 2010

buy this as a decent graphics card...
ATI 5770
assuming you have a PCI-E slot.

then present your results.

I can run Borderlands on a really old 3D card having minimum shaders , the game is Unreal 3 engine.
Well for next generation, i think Unreal Engine will ask more recent 3D cars at minimum.

some 3D AAA games, even recent can be tweaked a lot to run even on very low 3D card having basic shaders !
Some will run icreadibly slowly, but will run if you have 5 years old 3D card !

Some indie engines targetting only latest 3D cards, i think don't have understood the point of PC market , but it's a choice !

------------------

All depends on what game you target ?
If you target Crysis like or today full of polygons , physics, eye candy effects, then yes you will target some hardcore players having latest 3D cards from 3 recent years !
In that case take the Indie Engine that responds to that demand perhaps ?

I'll check another time, but i don't think Torque 3D needs such 3D card for nay game ? Specially if you use only terrain and basic 3D models and lightening ??

The video really looks great, better than crysis laugh

(Btw, "I can run Borderlands on a really old 3D card having minimum shaders" - can you? My 9600M GT (nVidia) couldnt run it on min settings ...)

@ratchet: I had several problems with wrong materials and crashes until i upgraded directX, thats why i mentioned it. Also for some reason the Pacific demo has anti-aliasing ( i think thats what it is, forget now ) hard coded to full in script and always reverts to it on restart. Kills framerates on any older cards. I pointed this out to a GG employee but not sure if it will get fixed. I started using Ureal3 and loved it. The editor ran smooth on my old card, ati 5770, until about 3 updates ago. The editor became slow and unuseable with post effects on. Tried several things to get it working as before but could not. My laptop had the same issues ( nvidia 360M ) so it's not just an ATI issue. The response i got from unreal team was to just edit with lower settings.

S3an :
Thanks for the input on that.
I really don't plan buying Torque 3D for now , even if it is a really good affair for some 99$
Just talked about the news demo showing some new features like Ocean shader or destructible objects !

For people interested in making a Crysis killer .... (yes some people think they can do as much work as the army of 3D artist that maked that game laugh )!!
For my purpose i have two projects i have in mind, one is casual, simple , not big terrain ,and A8 is what suits me for now laugh
The other i focus on big terrains , streaming so Esenthel engine is more suited !

So each project it's solution !
