Hey guys, 2 friends of mine and I plan a Video-Tutorial site for IT Specialists containing lessons for: - Development (Java, C++, PHP, and maybe Lite-C ) - Project Management - Testing - Aquiring customers - ... This site should be financed by a monthly fee of 10-20€ to view all videos, download them as mp3/text, download the course material (PowerPoint, source code, ...). The basic videos should be free to viel online. Questions: Would you use such a site? How can we convice professionals to submit videos? Is Lite-C worth an integration? Would it be okay to pay new video submissions by a month free membership? I await your creative answers

Heyo, Sorry, simply answered the topics title If you supply the source code etc it's really cool - but still someone with bad internet like me ( D: ) could not watch in HD (maybe add a download video function?) The theme itself sounds interesting, good luck

Coding can be explained in a video but it depends on the tutor. Speaking, explaining and a good unerstandable English is important here.
Also I think a membership is not a good option for a new site. You need a really huge offer and proven regular updates to convince people to pay a recurring fee. First I would suggest to offer cheap tutorials for a one-time fee. The first chapters should be always free for testing the quality of the course.

+1 to Frank
you could also write (paid)articles for sites like tutsplus network and get your name heard/get feedback first. Though, they are mainly interested in web-development(php html and css) and cg(2d 3d and video effect). Lite-c could go well with them though, i remember they had unity tuts.

Hey guys, for sure we have to deliver an excellent and reliable quality. That is what makes it hard to get professional suppliers for new videos. @Quad: Thanks for this great link. This site will help me to discover which topics are liked most and which are not important at the beginning. Additionally, it is very interesting to read other tutorials!

Hey Pad, have you ever watched a WWDC session? They have an excellent way of explaining things to someone and I would love to see more tutorial videos made this way.

Dislike. What are the odds that I need to watch 10-20€ worth of tutorials a month? And much more questionable - are u really able to put out 10-20€ worth of tutorials a month and keep all these up to date?
So lets say ur tutorials are really great and I wanted to know about a special topic i dont get 5,000,000 google results - I would likely pay 30-40€ for a whole series about that...but a flatrate? srsly who needs that?

I have a very slow internet connection which makes it not much fun to view video tutorials and downloading them completely before watching would mean an hour or so waiting without really being able to do anything on the internet without waiting for every byte... I also think that a good written tutorial can give much more and better information than a video tutorial while also being easier to follow. On the other hand seems a video tutorial much faster to create than a written one, at least that is what I experienced so far. While my Lite-C tutorials each took several days to write, my shader video tutorials didn´t take much more than the time to record them plus some planning, which I however may didn´t do in enough detail. A good thing about written tutorials is also, that I can find them with google and if I just need one small peticular information from it, it is usually much faster to find than within a video tutorial. On the other hand, the WWDC videos really are great, they however usually don´t have any kind of step by step explanations, but more general information like what is fast and what isn´t plus some example. Also, tutorials usually aren´t something I would spend money for. Books on the other hand is another story. When I for example buy ShaderX/GPUPro, I can find out what kind of articles are in there before buying and I know that most of them are of a very high quality and easier to follow than most you can find for free on the internet. I can also imagine that a video tutorial for modelling makes more sense than a written one, but I think it is different when it comes to programming.
