I thought this article was interesting. This guy made games about real military news events, and while visiting family in Iran he was taken custody and is now sentenced to death.

This guy made games, not just fun first person shooters but about real world topics. what a great way to learn about whats going on in the world. Iran obviously felt threatened by the content of his games and found a way to shut him up. It really shows you how video games can really make an impact on the world.
