hi,
my biggest problem when i am using a multi-terrain-shader is the framerate and the distant parts of the terrain.
the framerate is about 10 frames per second and the distance doesn't look good at all...
because you all seem to have good experience with shader-programming, what about this:
a shader that only shows the detail-textures when the camera-position is at a specific distance.
beyond this distance (the grey area in the example) you would only see something like a ground texture for example:
and for the detail-stuff:
just as example.
the a6 engine uses a very similar system with a command like "detail_size=32", but only one detail-texture can be used and without the blending in the distance.
Has anybody an idea, how to build a awesome shader like this?
