Too much text and ... bla bla bla ...
You have to start with the game type you want : RPG, FPS, Platform etc ... you have to think on the ideas , the new gameplay, what will motivate the player ... Than think in the graphic style ... the style of textures ... And begin on some first level structure, put areas of interest, things to discover etc ...
Well if you have played a lot of games , you can easy find what agme you played and found amazing levels ...
I don't see the book interest .. too too much text instead of pictures ... I would want to say, before diging on some design, find first what game style and ideas you want to make ...

Go read a fairy tale if you want pictures. @Rojart: Thanks for posting this, it's not exactly the type of book I would read (although not because of the text), but I'm pretty sure that this is interesting to at least a few people out there.

Yes , it can be interesting. In fact it's because i hev solid ideas of what i plan to make that i don't need it, and need more concrete "LEVEL DESIGN", i think i misunderstood the title! Game design is just general about all aspects of the game and all theory. ------------- Lot of people here could read instead this sort of internet tutorial : world of game design video

Thanks guys for the nice words! I have not mentioned, that this book gives readers critical insight on design theory, conceptualization, technology, art creation, and sound design, but not level design. It's from 2003, and printed book cost ~40€. Yes, I have this ebook, also. If you are looking for some udk level design, I highly recommend this ebook.

I recommend one that i have : It covers lot of parts of UDK , be carefull it's UDK only !
