is there any other good tool beside the NVidia dds thumbnail viewer? it's not okay for win7.
and the other one I found available from ddsviwer.com contains a trojan, but it would be nice to see details beside conversion options.
or should I make it? maybe it would be the best...

(I would need fast preview, file info, and batch conversion options.)

Paint.net is what I use

I'm using GIMP with a .dds plugin.
Works perfectly.
You just have to make sure that you've got only one layer when exporting.
Then you can set compression, mipmaps etc.

I know it, I have it too (I had problems with it in connection with file path names), but I neeed a viewer only to browse and sort my dds images easily.

there is an irfanview plugin for dds files which worked great the last time I checked.

EDIT: It's not only a dds viewer it's a general purpose image viewer which has also some editing functionality and some cool batch transformation tools. I prefer it over Irfan.
