Got a strange error message after compile. When Wed wants to write the WMB file, it results in an error. Any suggestions?

What value did you set for radiosity bouncing?

Zero. Compile was for quicktest only. Complete Settings see pic:

Memory: 2 Gig RAM, 2 Gig Space left on system disk.

...and what lightmap size did you use?

EDIT: 5 seconds late smirk
But that's it: turn down the lightmap resolution

Btw. usually only the final build of your level should be made with the "Build BSP Map" option, normally you can just click "Build Simple Map", the compiling can be much faster.

with latest A8 compiler you don't have those memory problems, as it handles the ram in a different way

3D Gamestudio A8 Pro
AMD FX 8350 4.00 Ghz
16GB RAM
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 960 4GB

@Kartoffel: I put lightmaps back on STD and it works, thanx. But where is the problem with the high setting? Disk space for temp files?

@Superku: Yeah I know. I "misclicked" while taking the screenie.

@painkiller: Currently A8.40 / Wed 6.961 Trial. Is there a more recent update?

Thanks all for the QUICK help. Really, really appreciated.

The problem is exactly as the error message tells you, i.e. a lack of virtual memory. The virtual memory is - roughly speaking - the memory provided by the operating system for a process, in this case the map compiler.

You already have the most recent version. I guess painkiller mistook the compiler version number for the engine version number.

I see. It's been a while since I've tinkered with XP but I found what I needed. I had assigned more maximum VRAM than was available on the disk. Assigned the VRAM to another disk and now all works fine even with higher settings.
