Hi all,

Sorry for the random variety of questions in this post, but as a new user I obviously have a lot of them.

- I noticed the minimum amount is mentioned to be $100. Has anyone tried the Z strategies with this amount?

- When I tried to sign up to FXCM, it asked if I would like to have a spread betting account. This has the benefit of being tax-free in the UK, but wondered if it would work with Zorro or if I needed to stick with CFDs.

- FXCM's stock plumetted early this year due to taking on a loan to meet it capital requirement. Does anyone foresee the business folding or is it relatively safe?

- I'm interested in producing a strategy based around the GARCH(1,1) model. Has anybody done a similar thing or have any advice? I have a bit of coding knowledge and a bit around GARCH and Black-Scholes so I'm hoping to come up with something in my spare time.

- As mentioned earlier, I haven't got much capital. Is there any specific strategy that works better for smaller amounts? I've been using an FXCM test account with £2000 using Z12 which has so far been a success.

Kind Regards,

Carlmej

Hi carlmej

Welcome to the forum. I think when you start things off, and even along the way with Zorro (or any trading in fact) you need to budget for learning. It is normal to have teething issues that you need to overcome and which will cost you. So my advice would be don't try to trade undercapitalised. Z12 is a great system, and a great place to start. My advice would be to find 2k and start with Z12, failing that Z7 looks good at only $500 required capital.

Not sure on the spread betting, but seems like it should work. You might need to mess around with instrument codes and such.

I don't think FXCM is going anywhere anytime soon. However I would not trade with them personally, I believe they are far too expensive, and not the fastest at execution either.

I keep my strategies simple, and generally based around observable things that I can understand, so I can't offer advice on GARCH or SCHOLES.

Good luck

Hi Thirstywolf

Thank you very much for the response. I appreciate you taking the time to offer advice.

I'll stick with demo for now until I amass some cash.
