Anyone have an idea as to how to get sawdust and woodchips? Snow, even colored, really dosn't work.

Please, more information! What sort of effect do you try to achieve, what sort of shader are you using for it....

I am just getting started in this venue and the question was more of a 'can it be done type question'. I'm developing some high poly models in Cinema4D and for use in a 'walk through museum' environment. 3DGS is one of the tools I am considering as the 'walking' tool (FPS without weapon?). Since the model is a sawmill I will need to be able to not only texture the models but have some sort of way of piling sawdust and woodchips in all the nooks and cranneys, floors etc.

I think you would probably be better off using particles...

The physics (as I concieve them, fastlane you can correct me) works like this:

in the Z dimension there are particles pushed upwards into the air, and gravity accelerates them downward, until they fall down.

In the x and y dimension they have a constant velocity, so that they will move away from the saw. air friction also plays a role, in keeping the sawdust from flying super far away from the saw itself.

Right. That would be an excellent approach to a working saw and flying sawdust. I'm more concerned with 'environmental' effect. ie The piles of sawdust all over the place. I've been searching for shaders or photos of sawdust/ wood chips to use for overall coverage.
