Hi, I just start to use Zorro S, and excited to Trade with Z13 strategy. Buy When I click "Trade" button, it displays erros bellow:


Any idea how to fix this?

1. Z7 is working.
2. I am using FXCM demo account.

Hi AdamWu, you have incidentally started Z13 strategy instead of Z12.

Z13 is an options strategy, FXCM is not an options broker and Z13 can not be used with him.

Hi AdamWu, I am not any Zorro Engineer, just a user, using the Z strategies for nearly 2 years, so my experience may help in that sense, but just in that frame.

The warnings you are getting have a simple reason, but serious importance. The simple reason is, that the parameters you have in the asset list in your history folder, differ from those that the Zorro broker plugin is receiving from your live account. The fast fix is to go to your log file, where a new asset list is recorded and use its values in your history folder assetlist.

Now the serious importance – the capital sizing of any Z strategy is your greatest potential enemy. Even though the Zorro engineers are true geniuses the drawdown periods are heavy and you have to have psychological and logical skills to maintain them. Better read this again and again in their Z Strategies manual part.

My Z-story is based in the trick, that I did size the strategies less than is my actual capital, and I could stand the drawdowns. I did not care of the „Z-table“ earning values, keep in mind, they expect 1:100 leverage and fully exposed capital. That is beyond my psychological strength. Additionally, I traded more Z strategies simultaneously. As they explore completely different market edges, the chance of correlation was low and my total equity curve was easier to handle.

All the warnings you have attached in this post, can influence the sizing of positions, so make sure you know from backtesting, what sizing and what drawdowns to expect ... Good luck ...

Dear hast29, Thank you so much, your experience and advices are very important add to the user manual. By following your advice I fixed all the errors/warnings listed in this post. Except this one:


I didn't pay much attention to these Errors before. I thought when the related markets/sessions opens, Zorro can automaticly download the latest data of NAS100/SPX500... and start trading them. But now I am not sure about it. Should I re-start the strategy during the markets/sessions open?

Hi AdamWu, there are two possible reasons. Either the market was down at the time and data indeed not available or (more likely) there are different asset names in the Z12 script and in your broker account.
In the second case, you need to use the „Symbol“ parameter in your AssetList. Here the example line of the asselist.csv, for my former broker, where I experienced this mismatch:
NAS100,9994.70,1.40000,0.0640,-0.1577,0.10000,0.008798,0,20.000,0.10,0.000,1US100.eu

While in Z12, the asset name was NAS100, the broker uses 1US100.eu .

You need to use the Z12 asset name and the broker asset names put in the “symbol” column.

From now on, I wait for the the test result of demo account. Knowing you used Z strategies for 2 years, I have much more confidence in Z strategies now
BTW, it is wired that the hotest post in the "Z Systems" channgel is "Z systems THEY DONT WORK - this is a scam", this is not encouraging at all

Hi AdamWu, the reason why the hottest post in this stream is about Z-Systems not working is this: It is very dangerous to use the Z Systems without reading the manual and without studying the general principles of algorithmic trading, especially about drawdown periods, proper scaling and advantage of implementing more strategies into ensemble. That is the real fundament that helped me.

In the opposite - comparing the performance to other users has no logical fundament, you have to compare your live performance to your backtest. Do not forget to run the backtest of Z12 with your setting, so that you see what to expect. Cheers ..
