Hi, i'm new in 3d game studio, so you know what i'm living now... :S
I know that i can make bumps and shades etc... but i dont know how, i read the other "noob" post, i read the manual, but i cant get any of those programs... i cant get the Nvidia's or the other...
Where can I get it? I'm really lost in this area.......
if youīre new to 3dgs donīt try to use shaders. I donīt say, that itīs impossible, i just say, that you should do something easier at the beginning. Read the examples and tutorials, try to make something like a 2d-game...
Regards Efrint
Ahh...an advice from me: donīt use the templates...
Your right, but i know everything i need to do a more complex game. I started to do a shooter, i created my own templates in A5 C-Script (I have 3d game studio 6 but i like A5 engine). The onlything i dont know are shaders and bumps :S ... plz someone who can, send me a link of a good program for that.
So far I haven't found a "good program" per se... but ATI distributes Render Monkey off of their main site for free. I've learned alot of the basics by trying to convert from standard HLSL into 3DGS's format. *shrug* It's worth a shot at least.
If you're just interested in using a functioning shader (not writing one), there are several out there ready to use as-is.
Well, the honest truth is thast I haven't worked at really trying to convert any of the "good" examples in RenderMonkey. But it makes a nice environment to learn HLSL in. From that point, go onto the web and get the feel for how to write a few basic shaders, then work to convert THOSE into 3DGS. For info on how to make the conversion, I'd recoment looking at HLSL shaders posted here on the forum as well as a few of the guru's websites.
Start with something simple, like skinning a mesh or light diffusion. Get them to work in RM, then work out the conversions.
Personally, I'm going to HAVE to try and get the satin shader worked into 3DGS... love that one.
