@Pappenheimer - I have chatted with a few people and it varies a lot. For the most part if you have a large amount of sets in several different categories you can make some money. These types of sets are included in a subscription service so maybe that accounts for some of it. Also the larger number of sets means you are more visible in searches and more likely to be listed as a featured artist, or one of the other 'top seller' and related categories which can drive tremedous traffic. There is an ocean load of textures there so even good ones in very small collections often remain unseen. The individual textures don't seem to sell as well with the possible exception of someone like Marlin Studios whose work is well known.

So if you add a small collection every week or two in a year you could have some nice steady money coming in. Even big guys like Marlin Studios have added thier collections and can be bought individually or as sets where before they didn't -since TS gets 50%- so some heavy volume of sales (or maybe a special deal) must account for these big guys willingness to jump on the TS wagon.

That's all I've gleaned from some emails to different guys selling and their forums.

@... - thanks for the kind words to the rest.

Bupaje - I've never tried to sell anything on turbosquid but I have to say that I've been happy with my results so far with gamebeep.

It's not like I'm selling enough to make a living, but, since my medival set became available last june I've almost reached my goal or making enough to purchae the GS commercial edition.

So, if you're looking for another distributor of your textures you should look into gamebeep.

BTW... good stuff as always. You're right about the floor, that is the only weak point and I don't think that it would look as cartoony once lighting is added to the level.

@sempronius - wow, glad to hear you sold so much but not surprised. That texture set you made is huge and an incredible value at $20. I can't picture how much time it would take to make 400 matching textures and offer them in 3 different versions as well. Whew.

thats the difference if you paint all your textures fitting each other...they, ehmmm fit

turbosquid is really bad for selling textures.
