Hiya,

I am creating a first person camera application which needs to run in software mode. I experience a problem clipping on MDL based levels.

I get a strange warping effect, which im sure is caused by the clipping. The models use large triangles, rather than small ones, and so are warped into view:

The first image is within the tunnel. The second image is moving forward slightly, the right side of the tunnel warps into the view.

I have tried changed clip_near and far.
Is there a way to turn off clipping on MDLs ?

Any help from the Conitec or people whom have experienced similar problems would be greatful.

Thankyou.

RD

I have the latest Commercial version.

Maybe more and smaller faces can solve the problem. Or give the tunnel-model (so far it is a model ^^) the my.near = on flag.
Hm... but better are more and smaller faces.

A quick question : What is this .near flag ? (its not listed in the help files at all and what does it do ?

The tunnel is a model, and it is also 2500 polygons already!!, so even doubling up the amount of polygons would possible kill the already low framerate in software mode.

And, 6.2 can support software mode, by putting the tag -w3d to force weak D3D mode

Any more assistance would be greatful. Ive tried changing all the clip_**** values, and it doesnt change anything sadly. Cheers

RD

xoNoid,

The latest versions of 3D GameStudio do not have a software more, but earlier versions do. Some developers (like this one) have chosen to remain with the older version in order to use software mode.
