Hi everyone! I just finished my little tutorial about tiled texture mappings on .mdl models as was requested in this thread. This tutorial uses Blender to create a quick-and-dirty UV-mapping that can then be imported in MED. But why don't you just see yourself what's in there Here you go!PS. Any critiques welcome! This is my first "real" tutorial so please let me know what I could improve next time

Hi Matrix, This looks VERY promising. I will d/l blender and experiment with this. Tiled textures on models can be a useful thing, that is for sure. Does blender import .mdl files easily? Happy New Year!

Thank you both for your replies! You know, this particular sectin of the fora suffers repliers - all the world reads topics but unfortunately only very few provide feedback. Thus, yours is truly appreciated @JimFox: I never tried importing mdl files into Blender but since there only is a Tool for exporting MDLs, this appears not to be possible, at least from what I know. @Jetpack_Monkey: This does mean you can use tiling textures on your MDL just like in WED, only you have to create the tiling in Blender first. Don't ask me why MED hasn't this built-in as it seems to support it just fine. PS. That so-called "Interface" also terrified me. Don't fear it, I provided many screens to help finding the right button Edit: Almost forgot to wish you all the best and a happy new year!

Well, I downloaded Blender and your tutorial worked like a charm. THanks a lot. I am really impressed, and I can see lots of uses for this. It enables me to make models with a lower polycount, that is for sure. I am in your debt, sir. There is a tiny downside. I see what you mean about the difficult interface used by Blender. I am dumbfounded about how hard it is to figure out how to do the simplest thing. For example, I loaded a complex object in .lwo format to convert to 3dgs .mdl. I still have not figured out how to select all parts of the object and save them as one model. That would seem to be an easy task, but after a frustrating hour late last night, I finally gave up. I will look at tutorials today. Best regards,
Jim

Though this is not 100% on-topic, I'll have a guess here You might want to try switching Blender into Object Mode, then rightclick objects while holding shift to select them all, and finally go to Object->Join Objects. This should work as long as you didn't accidentially select any other object types such as light sources or the like... Antwort auf:

lol Never ever. My pleasure
