Hi, I have no idea where this should go... its a tutorial, a work in progress, about starting with gamestudio, so i just picked this section. I have begun writing a tutorial for the absolute beginner for all aspects of WED, SED, and MED. At this point, I have only written about 8 pages of the WED section, and I would like to get user input on wether I am going the right way in writing it or not. here is the link...

Tutorial

Like i said, its only a partial tutorial, but I would like to know if you think I am babying the reader too much. Input from beginners would be awsome, seeing as that is the audiance i am targeting. Thanks.

I would prefer to save your document in pdf so everyone can open it. Because Word have not everybody. I have it, but pdf can open more of the 3dgs users. If you haven't a PDF converter I would do it for you. Just say me your email-adress.

Regards,
beegee

thank you for the tip, I was planning to save it as PDF in the future, but it is nowhere near done, so i didnt see the point (I dont have a converter at the time). Anyways, I would really appreciate comments on the content of the tutorial, because like i said, it is my first, and I am unsure how to best write a tutorial for the beginner game designer. Thank you again.

As for a "converter", might I suggest you drop word and switch to OpenOffice.org? It's free, open source, under constant development, can import/export a TON of formats (including Word), and, basicallly, has everything that MS Office does. Oh, and it's got a PDF exporter built in.

http://www.openoffice.org for the DL.

Again, thank you for your advice, but I am not looking for ways to convert the document. I would like feedback on the content of the document. This is not to say that you must read every word, but I would just like a general... this is going in the right direction, or... it is too slow, you dwell on topics too long, speed it up. Perhaps this was the wrong place to post this after all.

I own both openoffice and the microsoft suite, I didnt know openoffice saved to .pdf, I will do this soon. Thank you for that!!!

I liked what I have seen so far. Keep it going, I can use all the help I can get.
Thanks
Sam

PS The PDF looks better than the doc did.

Please keep working on this tutorial your doing a great job. Your language is clear, easy to follow and your doing very well with inserting pictures and drawings. Continue to address where buttons are and how to access things, that is very helpful. Thank you for taking the time to do this.

Thank you, everyone, for your kind words. My intentions for this tutorial are as follows:

1. Create seperate chapters, outlining the major tools of 3DGS (MED, WED, and SED)
2. Create a simple, but finished, game, from beginning to end.
3. Teach by example. That is to say, I will bring up topics as we use them...(as read in the tutorial)

Again, thank you very much for you compliments.

@Serlink

The PDF looks better because it is zoomed in further, by default. The pictures are all full screen (1280x768). Therefore, they will not loose quality all the way up to full screen . This way, if something is not clear, you can zoom in and take a closer look!
