Until now I've been using the old (6.3 I believe) version of MED and had no trouble mapping out a specific area I wanted to texture... I'd select the faces I want to texture, pop open the skin editor select 'create MD2 mapping' and poof, the faces I selected would appear in the skinning window and I'd be able to export the 'skeleton' for use in an imaging program like Photoshop. After creating a skin I was satisfied with, I would import the new bmp (or .pcx or whatever) and my now-nicely-textured faces would appear on the model right where I wanted them.
Now I've been using the new Med from the 6.4 Beta, and of course I think it has been vastly improved (if not a little bit more complicated to do certain things such as this).
So here's my question. We know there is no 'create MD2 mapping' option in the skin editor now, apparently I have to set this by first selecting the faces I want textured and clicking on 'Create 6-sided Mapping' under 'Edit' on the main menu. Then I'd tell it from which side to look at the faces I've selected -- Fine, a bit more complicated than before but it'll work.
Now the 'skeleton' appears in the skinning window when I open it (making sure to have created a skin0 or whatever beforehand). Now I've got the lines and such I am to use as a border for the skin I'm going to create, but here's the problem. I can't export the base image that I would normally bring into photoshop. Here take a look at this pic, it should explain things better:
Any clue as to what I'm doing wrong?
If no one can figure out the reason for this, can someone at the very least explain step-by-step what I SHOULD be doing to just texture say 1 side of a cube (and exporting the base image w/ the lines and such).. maybe then I can see where I fouled up...
Thanks for all help on this!
