Hi there! I am searching for a 3d game engine for a project I am about to do.
I am working on Maya 6.5 and i plan to import 3d objects from it. I went through the plugin that is on the page but i wonder which versions of Maya i cn apply it to.
I ve seen there are plugins up to 3d studio Max 6 so probably the same goes for Maya.
Could you please tell me which version of Maya should I have?

Thanks!

MED (the Model EDitor) will import:

.3ds
.x
.obj

And from Milkshape. However, animation, textures and whatnot do no always convert over well. It's the single, most annoying fact about 3dGS. I use Softimage XSI, and basically can only import static objects. I do my skining elsewhere first. I've tried to import animated .x but without much success. Conitec *REALLY* needs to do something about this...I've suggested (as have others) to implement the COLLADA format. We'll see what happens for A7...

With the Commercial and Pro Editon you can use the Milkshape Import Filters.
So almost ervery format that Milkshape will open you can also open with MED
and save it then to *.mdl.

If you look at the Download page, there are converters for Max and aswell Maya offered,
but I dont know how good they work:

Instead of trying to import files into MED, maybe you should try to find a plug-in that exports in mdl from 3ds max... works perfectly

As far as i know, *.x Files can be imported with texture.
But there are Max/Maya users out here in the forums, maybe someone
other will share his knowledge about it.
